ENVISAGED PRESS RELEASE ANNOUNCING NEW TECHNOLOGY LAUNCH
UrgentDerm Launches Mobile Dermatological Diagnosing: DermDoc gives patients and providers immediate access to innovative cancer-screening technology and an extensive doctor-sourced dermatological database.
Seattle, WA – UrgentDerm, the world’s first dermatological practice providing 24/7 access to top doctors via video or voice, announced today its newest innovation: DermDoc. DermDoc not only provides patients with immediate access to specialized dermatological knowledge, but also revolutionizes diagnostics with its skin-screening technology. This new screening technology runs photos uploaded by patients and providers through image-recognition software to identify potentially cancerous lesions as well as other possible dermatologic conditions.
One in five Americans will develop skin cancer in the course of a lifetime. Despite being one of the most prevalent forms of cancer, patients may wait months for a dermatology appointment. For patients in rural areas or developing countries, care is often inaccessible or non-existent. UrgentDerm seeks to fill this gap in specialty care for patients across the globe. And with DermDoc, patients now have access to a specialized database of dermatologist-curated content that can answer patient questions, give doctor-approved advice for a healthy skincare routine, and provide tips for skin-cancer prevention.
The truly revolutionary aspect of DermDoc, though, lies in its diagnostic abilities. Powered by UrgentDerm's unique operating system, DermDoc is able to analyze uploaded images of moles or lesions in the context of a patient’s personal health record to determine the most likely diagnosis. This skin-screening technology utilizes a deep learning algorithm based on thousands of images of the most common skin conditions, and it will continue to improve in accuracy as more images are uploaded, analyzed, and reviewed by board-certified dermatologists. Patients will further be able to send the image and the generated DermDoc assessment on to UrgentDerm physicians for additional evaluation and treatment planning.
“A healthcare service cannot only be comprised of primary and emergency care. Specialty care, such as dermatology, can be vital to leading a happy and healthy life. UrgentDerm's goal is to make access to that specialized care easier through automated diagnosing, centralized access to information, and instant access to providers,” said John Doe, a product designer for UrgentDerm. “DermDoc’s screening technology will help expedite the diagnosis and any future treatment planning in order to provide the best and most efficient treatment for our patients.”
DermDoc is now accessible on the UrgentDerm website from any mobile device or personal computer and/or IOS or Android apps. To watch a short video of DermDoc’s skin-screening technology in action, please visit: <link>
